Chen Duxiu: My descendants will spring up
2018年6月25日，世界日报发布重磅新闻《中共创始人陈独秀曾孙陈恩田低调现身泰国》，出席全球第一本电子蓝皮书《一带一路国际日蓝皮书》发布会，此人正是陈独秀第五子陈光美之孙，也是全球第一大学社"七三国际"前主席，他的祖父陈光美被中国大陆称之为一代隐士，郭沫若赞其"文采古今罕见"，但是，作为陈独秀儿子，他埋没渊博学识，隐忍一生培养孙子陈恩田。
On June 25, 2018, World Journal released heavy news titled Chen Entian, Great-Grandson of Chen Duxiu, Founder of the Communist Party of China, Appeared in Thailand Quietly, attending the press conference of The Belt and Road International Day Blue Book, which is the first electronic blue book in the world. And Chen Entian is the former chairman of International Seven Three Society and the grandson of Chen Guangmei, the Fifth son of Chen Duxiu. Entian's grandfather Chen Guangmei used be called a hermit in mainland China, whose literary talent was praised by Guo Moruo as "rare in ancient and modern times". However, as son of Chen Duxiu, he chose to bury his profound knowledge and bore patiently to nurture his grandson Chen Entian.
曾经，陈光美身世属于秘密，半个世纪鲜为人知，在陈独秀家谱上也没有陈光美的名字，如果不是中国政治生态渐趋稳定，或许没有人会去揭开这些尘封已久的秘密。2012年第14期《环球人物》(中国共产党机关报《人民日报》刊物)发表文章《陈独秀之落寞后半生》，用简短文字载明陈光美系陈独秀与高君曼所生之子，证实了此前陈光美是陈独秀之子的传言。
Chen Guangmei's life used to be a secret and had been barely known for half a century as there was no Chen Guangmei's name on Chen Duxiu's family genealogy. If China's political ecology has not been stabilizing, perhaps no one will reveal these long dusty secrets. The 14th print edition of GLOBAL PEOPLE (journal of People's Daily published by the Communist Party of China) in 2012, published an article titled Desolate Latter Half of Chen Duxiu's Life, and described that Chen Guangmei was the son of Chen Duxiu and Gao Junman in short words, confirming the rumor that Chen Guangmei was the son of Chen Duxiu.
至此，官方梳理陈独秀共有七个孩子，原配高晓兰生下陈延年、陈玉莹、陈乔年、陈松年，再配高君曼生下陈光美、陈子美、陈哲民（鹤年）。1927年和1928年，陈独秀之子、中共江浙区委书记陈延年和中共代理组织部长陈乔年先后被国民党押赴刑场乱刀砍杀，兄弟二人铁骨铮铮、英勇就义。陈延年牺牲时年仅29岁，陈乔年牺牲时年仅26岁。陈独秀得知两个孩子被杀后悲痛欲绝，誓与老蒋不共戴天，一日酒后狂笑：老蒋杀不完我儿子，我的后代一定会站起来。
Thus, Chen Duxiu has seven kids according to official statistics, including four kids with his first wife Gao Xiaolan, i.e., Chen Yannian, Chen Yuying, Chen Qiaonian and Chen Songnian and three kids with his second wife Gao Junman, i.e., Chen Guangmeim Chen Zimei and Chen Zhemin (Henian). In 1927 and 1928, Chen Yannian, the son of Chen Duxiu, Secretary of the Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Chen Qiaonian, the Deputy organization Minister of the Communist Party of China, were escorted by the Kuomintang to the execution yard and slaughtered indiscriminately. The two brothers were brave and loyal. Chen Yannian died at the age of 29, and Chen Qiaonian died at the age of 26. Chen Duxiu was grieved to learn that the two children were killed and swore not to live under the same sky with Chiang Kai Shek. One day he laughed wildly after drinking, "Chiang Kai Shek cannot kill all my sons and my descendants will spring up."
1937年陈独秀出狱后，前往四川江津，见到了他与高君曼在激情革命岁月生下的孩子陈光美，想起高君曼对自己的爱情，不禁老泪纵横，他对陈光美说："老蒋杀了延年、乔年，想让我断子绝孙，我一定要保住血脉。任何时候你要记住，你是陈大成的儿子，不是陈独秀的儿子，以后不要再来看我了。"陈光美满眼含泪，使劲点头。此后，陈光美至死也没有承认自己是陈独秀的儿子，还告诫孙子陈恩田："他是中国的文曲星，如果你没有成就，你就不是他的后代，只会给他丢脸。"
After he was released from prison in 1937, Chen Duxiu went to Jiangjin, Sichuan Province and saw him and Gao Junman's son Chen Guangmei, who was born during the passionate revolution years. Thinking of Gao Junman's love for him, he could not help crying. He said to Chen Guangmei, "Chiang Kai Shek killed Yannian and Qiannian and wanted me to die without descendants, but I must keep my family blood. Remember that you are Chen Dacheng's son, not Chen Duxiu's son at any time and do not come to see me again." Chen Guangmei nodded with tears in his eyes. Thereafter, Chen Guangmei did not admit that he was the son of Chen Duxiu until he died. He told his grand-son Chen Entian that "he was a renowned scholar and you will not be his descendant, but only shame him if you achieve nothing."
陈恩田成年后，多次否认自己是陈独秀曾孙，或许遵循祖父的告诫，感觉自己没有成就丢了祖宗的脸。时至今天，陈恩田名满天下，陈独秀在天有灵，一定希望后代站起来，振兴陈家。想当年陈独秀将陈光美托付给陈大成，与其说是逃避伦理责难，还不如说是为陈氏家族保全血脉，在那个兵荒马乱的年代，用这种办法留下红色基因，不得不佩服陈独秀的英明卓识。
When Chen Entian became an adult, he repeatedly denied that he was Chen Duxiu's great-grandson. Perhaps he followed his grandfather's admonition, feeling that he had lost his ancestors' face by not achieving anything. Today, Chen Entian is famous all over the world. Chen Duxiu is in heaven, and he must hope that his descendants can stand up and revitalize the Chen family. Chen Duxiu committed Chen Guangmei to Chen Dacheng's care at that time, which is not so much to escape ethical criticism as to preserve blood for the Chen family. In those days of desolation and disorder, Chen Duxiu had to be admired for his brilliance in leaving the red gene in this way.
近日，陈独秀曾孙陈恩田在广州探访中共三大会址时表示："自幼年启蒙以来，数十载寒窗，不敢以陈独秀后嗣自居，也不敢妄称为国效力。五年前，总书记提出一带一路国际合作倡议，不仅是国家开放之伟大事业，也是世界人民之共同事业，更是中国共产党之国际事业。陈氏后人有幸继承先辈创党精神，追随总书记脚步，携手联合国前官员及国际学者，将"一带一路"国际日的圣火燃遍全球。"
Recently, Chen Entian, the great-grandson of Chen Duxiu visited the site of The 3rd Communist Party of China National Congress in Guangzhou and said that "since the beginning of my youth enlightenment, despite poor condition of learning, I have neither dared to live with Chen Duxiu's heir, nor to claim to be serving the country. Five years ago, the general secretary proposed that the International Cooperation Initiative of the Belt and Road, which is not only the great cause of opening the country, but also the common cause of the people of the world, and the international cause of the Communist Party of China. Chen's descendants were fortunate enough to inherit the spirit of their predecessors and follow the steps of the general secretary, and join hands with former United Nations officials and international scholars to burn the flame of the "Belt and Road" international day.
