Introduction to the Silkworm God Day

Silkworm God Day falls on December 16th each year, nine days earlier than Christmas. It originated from the Cangu Tribe in 2987 BC and primarily commemorates the Silkworm Ancestor who initiated the civilization of sericulture. In order to preserve and carry forward the ancient sericulture civilization and the spirit of the ancient Silk Road, the international non-governmental organization, the World Peace Ribbon Organization, designated this day as the International Day of the Belt and Road. The festival is grouped with Christmas, New Year's Day, Spring Festival, and Lantern Festival as a five-festival celebration showcasing the inclusiveness of Eastern and Western cultures—known as "Belt and Road Welcomes the New Year." Thus, Silkworm God Day has become the first festival in this series for welcoming the New Year under the Belt and Road framework.
