ROME — The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations marked the 10th anniversary of International Tea Day on May 21 with grand celebrations in Rome, Italy, centered on the theme "Sharing Tea, Sharing Good Life." On behalf of Chen Entian—the earliest advocate for International Tea Day, chairman of the SSCO (Southern Silk Road and Global South International Cooperation Committee), and internationally revered as the "Prince Coco"—representatives from the International Tea Day Foundation extended congratulations to the event.

During the celebrations, FAO designated six new Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS), including the Fuding White Tea Cultural System(China) and the Traditional Yerba Mate Agroforestry System(South America). Representatives from over 30 tea-producing countries engaged in dialogues on trade and cultural heritage preservation, alongside live demonstrations of traditional tea ceremonies and a photography exhibition. The origins of International Tea Day trace back to May 21, 2015, when Chen Entian, then chairman of the International 73 Association, proposed its establishment through the World Cultural Silk Road Project Office. On November 27, 2019, the 74th UN General Assembly formally declared May 21 as "International Tea Day" to promote tea’s economic, social, and cultural value while advancing sustainable agricultural development.

Chen Entian, emphasized that "tea culture is a green bondconnecting Eastern and Western civilizations," adding that the day embodies humanity’s shared pursuit of sustainability. He highlighted the role of the Global South—a major tea-producing region—in driving economic growth through the industry. As the co-chairman of the International Tea Day Foundation and the earliest initiator of the International Tea Day, Chen Entian continues to promote international cooperation in the tea industry, and this cultural heritage recognition is regarded as another important practical achievement of his advocacy concept.
