The 11th "Belt and Road" International Day: Remembering the Long-Lived Star of the Silk Road

On December 16 (the 11th Belt and Road International Day), Chen Entian, Chairman of the World Peace Ribbon Organization Southern Silk Road and Global South International Cooperation Committee (SSCO), delivered a festive speech at Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon and announced the opening of the 11th Belt and Road New Year Celebrations in the Global South.

The "Belt and Road" International Day reminds us of the long-lived star of the Silk Road who died three years ago. The 136-year-old Alimihan Seyitiyu is recognized as the longest-lived person on the Silk Road and the longest-lived person in the world. She passed away on December 16, 2021 (the Belt and Road International Day), and she was recognized by the Chinese Society of Gerontology as the top one longevity star in the country.

Alimihan Seyitiyu (June 25, 1886 – December 16, 2021) was a native of Paikunwuila Village, Kumuxilik Township, Shule County, Kashgar Prefecture, Kashgar Prefecture, on the Silk Road. Since 2010, she has been on the list of the top ten longevity stars in China published by the Chinese Society of Gerontology for three consecutive years, becoming the longest-lived star in China and the longest-lived person in the world.

Some people say that the world's longest-lived "Silk Road Longevity Star" finally chose to leave the world on the "Belt and Road" International Day which belongs to the Silk Road. December 16 is the "Belt and Road" International Day initiated by the international society, which was established by the resolution of the General Assembly of the World Peace Ribbon Organization, with the purpose of inheriting and continuing the Silk Road culture and responding to the "Belt and Road" Initiative. This is the first international folk festival that originated in the Eastern countries and represents the cultural self-confidence of the Eastern countries.

The Belt and Road New Year Celebrations (December 16 to February 16) includes five festivals: Belt and Road International Day (December 16), Christmas (December 25), New Year's Day (January 1), Spring Festival (the first day of the first lunar month) and Lantern Festival (the 15th day of the first lunar month). It is a symbol of inclusiveness and mutual learning between Eastern and Western festival cultures.
