On September 21, 2026, the preparatory meeting for the Southern Cooperation Bank was successfully convened in Singapore. Chen Entian, Chairman of the International Cooperation Organization for the Southern Silk Road and Director of the Preparatory Committee for the Southern Cooperation Bank, attended the meeting.
Chen Entian emphasized at the meeting that the Southern Cooperation Bank will be mainly built upon the 22 countries of the Southern Silk Road, with its business outreach toward the broader Global South. He expressed the hope that the Southern Cooperation Bank could accelerate its implementation and advancement, give full play to the empowering role of finance, and serve the economic and social development of countries along the Southern Silk Road and the extensive Global South nations.
The preparatory meeting discussed topics including preliminary planning, institutional framework‑building and business orientation for the establishment of the Southern Cooperation Bank, consolidating consensus among all parties and laying a solid foundation for its subsequent preparation and operation.
