"Banner of Overseas Chinese" Heir Attends Tan Kah Kee Spirit Symposium in Madrid's Ch

Silk Road News – The Tan Kah Kee Spirit Symposium, hosted by the Spanish Chinatown Overseas Chinese Alliance, was successfully held on the afternoon of July 31 (local time) at the alliance's headquarters in Madrid's Usera district. Mr. Chen Ming, great-grandson of the renowned "Banner of Overseas Chinese" Tan Kah Kee, was invited to attend and deliver a keynote speech. He joined representatives from Spain's overseas Chinese community in commemorating the legacy of their forebears and discussing the inheritance of their shared spirit.

During the symposium, Chen Ming recounted with deep emotion the inspiring life of Tan Kah Kee, marked by unwavering patriotism. He systematically elaborated on the late luminary's noble philosophy—rooted in building industry, championing education, and shouldering national responsibility. Connecting these ideals to the contemporary development of overseas Chinese communities, Chen explored the enduring value and practical significance of the Tan Kah Kee Spirit in the new era, striking a resonant chord among attending community leaders.

The event commenced with opening remarks by Chen Enguan, Chairman of the Spanish Chinatown Overseas Chinese Alliance. Qu Xia, Executive President and Secretary-General of the alliance and President of the Spanish Chinese Law Association, served as the moderator. Prominent figures from the Spanish Chinese community, including Nan Jun, Zhu Xiaohai, Xu Mengbin, and Gao Xiaohua, gathered to exchange insights and forge consensus.

The symposium further consolidated the cohesion of the Spanish overseas Chinese community, encouraging overseas Chinese to carry forward their patriotic sentiments and uphold social responsibilities.
