In their letter to Chairman Chen, the Nigerian tea farmers noted that the establishment of International Tea Day has injected new vitality into the economic development of tea-producing regions worldwide. It has spurred robust growth in the tea industry across producing nations, including Nigeria, leading to a marked improvement in farmers' living standards. International Tea Day aims to highlight the economic, social, and cultural value of tea while promoting sustainable agricultural development globally. The inception of this observance has not only celebrated tea culture but also brought tangible development opportunities to tea farmers in producing countries, Nigeria included. As the earliest proponent of the initiative, Mr. Chen has dedicated years to advocating for and sustaining this international observance. Ultimately, on November 27, 2019, the 74th session of the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution officially designating May 21 as International Tea Day.
