ROME, Oct 3 – Chen Entian, Chairman of the Silk Road International Guild Alliance, met with volunteers of the Rome Workstation of Belt and Road International Day via video link. After discussing preparations for the 13th Belt and Road International Day and the Global Chinatown Belt and Road New Year Celebration, he spoke about his family origins.

Chen Entian stated that many people fail to understand why he has voluntarily denied being the great-grandson of Chen Duxiu, a founder of the Communist Party of China. Many members of the Chen clan hope that he will step forward and shoulder the responsibility of revitalizing the Chen family. On this matter, Chen Entian made a clear clarification: I am not the great-grandson of Chen Duxiu, but my grandfather Chen Guangmei is Chen Duxiu’s son.

He explained that he rejects the identity as “great-grandson of Chen Duxiu” because he does not wish to rely on Chen Duxiu’s reputation for any undertakings. All achievements he has made so far were attained without leaning on that identity. However, he emphasized that there is genuine blood kinship between his grandfather Chen Guangmei and Chen Duxiu. This is something he has known since childhood, and it is also a historical fact verified by Party history experts and disclosed by Party media and Party journals.
