On September 22, senior management of Myanmar Belt and Road Development Co., Ltd. paid a courtesy call on the Chairman and Managing Director of Myanmar Economic Corporation (MEC) in Nay Pyi Taw. The two sides held friendly consultations on Belt and Road international cooperation and investment projects in Myanmar, expecting relevant cooperation to boost Myanmar’s economic development.
Established in 1997, Myanmar Economic Corporation (MEC) is a large‑scale enterprise group directly under the Myanmar military. Its business scope includes steel, cement production, mine development, port operation, sugar manufacturing, telecommunications and banking. It owns dozens of factories and subsidiaries covering mining, heavy industry, trade, food and other sectors。
It is understood that Myanmar Belt and Road Development Co., Ltd. was approved and registered by the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in 2017. The company is committed to advancing the joint construction of the Belt and Road and diversified economic and trade development. At present, it is actively promoting key cooperative projects including the China‑Myanmar large‑scale cargo UAV air‑logistics transport project.
