Chen Entian's Speech at the 16th International Chinese Language Day Celebration

尊敬的各位来宾，女士们、先生们：

Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,

你们好！

Good day!

       值此第十六届国际中文日庆祝大会之际，我怀着无比激动的心情，与大家共同见证第五届国际汉语学习委员会就职典礼。首先，请允许我以国际汉语学习委员会创始人及国际中文日最早倡议者的名义，向参加第十六届国际中文日庆祝大会的全体来宾表示真诚的问候，向第五届国际汉语学习委员会成员表示热烈祝贺！也向所有为国际中文事业奋斗的同仁致以崇高敬意！

       On this momentous occasion of the 16th International Chinese Language Day Celebration, I stand before you with profound excitement to witness the inauguration of the 5th International Chinese Language Learning Committee. First and foremost, in my capacity as the founder of the International Chinese Language Learning Committee and the earliest advocate of International Chinese Language Day, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all attendees and offer my warmest congratulations to the newly elected members of the 5th Committee. I also pay my deepest respects to all colleagues who have dedicated themselves to the cause of promoting Chinese language and culture globally.

       二十年前，我们怀着"以语言为桥，促文明互鉴"的初心创立国际汉语学习委员会，积极推动联合国早日设立国际中文日。二十载春华秋实，国际中文日从一粒种子成长为参天大树，中文教育从区域性交流发展为全球性文化纽带。今天，当汉语学习者遍布五洲，当"你好"成为世界通用问候，当中华文化与世界文明深度交融，我们更加坚信：语言不仅是沟通工具，更是文明对话的钥匙。

       Twenty years ago, driven by the vision of "building bridges through language to foster mutual understanding among civilizations," we established the International Chinese Language Learning Committee and actively advocated for the United Nations to designate an International Chinese Language Day. Over the past two decades, this day has blossomed from a seed into a towering tree, transforming Chinese language education from regional exchanges into a global cultural bond. Today, as Mandarin learners span every continent, as "Ni Hao" becomes a universal greeting, and as Chinese culture intertwines deeply with global civilizations, we are more convinced than ever: language is not merely a tool for communication but a key to unlocking dialogue between civilizations.

       作为国际汉语学习委员会创始人和国际中文日倡议者，我亲历了这份事业从无到有的艰辛，更见证了无数汉语教育工作者薪火相传的坚守。新一代委员会的就职，标志着我们的事业迎来新起点。期待新一届同仁以创新思维拓展中文教育边界，以数字技术赋能语言传播，以人文情怀深化文明对话，让中文真正成为连接人类命运共同体的精神纽带。

       As the founder of the International Chinese Language Learning Committee and an initiator of International Chinese Language Day, I have personally experienced the arduous journey of building this cause from scratch and witnessed the unwavering dedication of generations of Chinese educators. The inauguration of the new Committee marks a fresh chapter in our mission. I urge my successors to embrace innovative approaches to expand the boundaries of Chinese education, harness digital technologies to empower language dissemination, and deepen cross-cultural dialogue through humanistic values—transforming Chinese into a spiritual bond that unites humanity as one global family.

       最后，祝愿第十六届国际中文日庆祝活动圆满成功！祝愿第五届国际汉语学习委员会在新征程上再创辉煌！祝福各位来宾身体健康、事业顺利，让我们携手同行，共筑多元文明交流的璀璨未来！

       In closing, I wish the 16th International Chinese Language Day Celebration resounding success! May the 5th International Chinese Language Learning Committee achieve new heights on its journey!
