Following the China-Laos Railway, SSCO announced the "China-Myanmar Air Road" low-altitude logistics and transportation project

On February 24, 2025 local time in Singapore, Chen Entian, chairman of the Southern Silk Road and the Global South International Cooperation Committee(SSCO), announced the launch of the "China-Myanmar Air Road" low-altitude logistics and transportation project. The project will use drones and intelligent aviation technology to build an efficient low-altitude logistics network connecting core economic regions such as Yunnan, China and Naypyidaw, Myanmar. It is expected to become another landmark project of the Southern Silk Road after the "China-Laos Railway", injecting new momentum into the "Belt and Road" initiative.
At present, China-Myanmar cross-border logistics is mainly based on sea and land transportation, but due to the weak infrastructure and congestion of land ports in Myanmar, transportation efficiency is facing challenges. The "China-Myanmar Air Road" project will adopt a low-altitude intelligent logistics system independently developed by China Junfu Science and Technology Research Institute. It combines drone swarms and ground intelligent warehousing networks to realize 24-hour all-weather transportation of cross-border materials. Its one-way transit time is shortened by more than 60% compared with traditional land routes, which greatly improves the efficiency of China-Myanmar trade circulation.
As an important participant in the Belt and Road Initiative, Myanmar has achieved remarkable results in cooperation with China in the fields of power and transportation in recent years. The implementation of projects such as the Kyaukxi Gas-fired Power Station and the Yangon Offshore Pilot Station has greatly improved the livelihood of local people. The "China-Myanmar Air Road" project will further promote Myanmar's integration into the regional supply chain system, provide fast lanes for high value-added goods such as agricultural products, medical supplies, and electronic products, and at the same time drive the development of Myanmar's logistics, communications and other supporting industries, and is expected to create more than 1,000 local jobs.
SSCO Chairman Chen Entian said: From December 16 last year to February 16 this year, the "Belt and Road" International Day led Christmas, New Year's Day, Spring Festival and Lantern Festival, and achieved the complete success of the "Belt and Road" New Year Celebrations in the global Chinatowns. After that, the "Myanmar-China Air Route" low-altitude logistics transportation project is on its way. It is hoped that it will provide strong support for Myanmar's industrialization process and the construction of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Zone. We believe that the China-Myanmar Air Road is not only a model of South-South cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, but also a new chapter in the brotherhood between China and Myanmar and the China-Myanmar community with a shared future.
