The 2025 Global Chinatowns "Belt and Road" New Year Celebrations are about to come to a successful conclusion. On this wonderful moment of the Spring Festival, on behalf of the Global Chinatowns "Belt and Road" New Year Celebrations Organizing Committee, I would like to extend my sincerest thanks and best wishes to all compatriots from the motherland, Chinese and international friends who participated in and supported this event. Let us draw a successful conclusion to this grand festival of east-west culture that transcends regions, cultures and nationalities.
10多年前，我与联合国原副秘书长冀朝铸前辈，携手创立世界和平丝带组织暨世界和平统一阵线，提出五合一世界和平主张，将每年12月16日设立为“一带一路”国际日，并将“一带一路”国际日、圣诞节、元旦节、春节、元宵节组合打造成为东西文化包容互鉴的全球唐人街“一带一路”迎新年系列活动，受到了第八届联合国秘书长潘基文、联合国教科文组织前总干事博科娃等国际友人的关心支持。
More than 10 years ago, I and former Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr.Ji Chaozhu, jointly established the World Peace Ribbon Organization and the World Peace United Front. We have put forward the five-in-one world peace proposition, and designated December 16 as the "Belt and Road" International Day, and combined the "Belt and Road" International Day, Christmas, New Year's Day, Spring Festival and Lantern Festival into a series of "Belt and Road" New Year celebrations, which has received the care and support of international friends such as Ban Ki-moon, the 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Irina Bokova, former Director-General of UNESCO.
过去一周，从南非约翰内斯堡的舞狮与非洲歌舞交融，到伦敦唐人街的烟花点亮泰晤士河畔；从纽约法拉盛的千人饺子宴，到悉尼歌剧院的龙舟竞渡——全球五大洲的唐人街以独特的方式诠释了“春节”这一文化符号的普世价值。我们感动于南非民众对剪纸艺术的热情尝试，也欣喜于旧金山孩子们手持花灯穿梭街巷的笑颜。这些瞬间，不仅是中华文化的传播，更是人类命运共同体精神的生动实践。
Over the past week, from lion dance performances in Johannesburg to fireworks performances in London’s Chinatown; from a thousand-person dumpling feast in Flushing to a dragon boat race at the Sydney Opera House----Chinatowns on five continents around the world interpret the universal value of the cultural symbol "Spring Festival" in a unique way. We were moved by the enthusiastic attempts of South African people in paper-cutting art, and we were also happy with the smiles of the children in San Francisco holding lanterns. These moments are not only the dissemination of Chinese culture, but also the vivid practice of the spirit of a community with a shared future for mankind.
在此，我们要特别感谢联合国、各国政府、使领馆、侨团及志愿者的鼎力支持，感谢南方丝绸之路及全球南方国际合作委员会（南合组织）的积极参与。正是你们的信任与协作，让“一带一路”国际日从东方走向西方，让春节从“华人的节日”升华为“世界的庆典”。同时，也要向每一位参与活动的艺术家、商户和市民致敬——你们用热情与汗水，搭建起文化对话的桥梁！
Here, we would like to express our special thanks to the United Nations, governments, embassies and consulates, overseas Chinese groups and volunteers for their strong support, and to the Southern Silk Road and the Global Southern International Cooperation Commission (SSCO) for their active participation. It is your trust and cooperation that promote the "Belt and Road" International Day to the West, and sublimate the Spring Festival from "Chinese Festival" to "World Festival". At the same time, we should pay tribute to every artist, merchant and citizen who participated in the event - you built a bridge of cultural dialogue with enthusiasm and sweat!
本次活动的成功，源于对传统的坚守与创新的突破。无论是非遗技艺展演中的拓印、书法，还是融合AI技术的虚拟现实灯会，都展现了中华文化在新时代的活力。南非女孩塞布丽娜品尝冰糖葫芦时的惊叹，巴黎青年用中文高唱《茉莉花》的真诚，无不印证了文化共鸣的力量。而唐人街的美食摊位前络绎不绝的人群，更让我们看到“舌尖上的中国”如何成为连接世界的纽带。
The success of this event stems from the persistence of tradition and breakthroughs in innovation. Whether it is the rubbing, calligraphy in the intangible cultural heritage skills exhibition, or the virtual reality lantern festival integrating AI technology, it all shows the vitality of Chinese culture in the new era. The exclamation of South African girl Sebrina when she tastes candied haws, and the sincerity of Paris young people singing "Jasmine" in Chinese all confirm the power of cultural resonance. The endless crowds of people in front of food stalls in Chinatown allow us to see how "China on the Tip of the Tongue" becomes a bond connecting the world.
从“一带一路”国际日、圣诞节、元旦节到春节、元宵节，近两个月的迎新年活动，不仅是辞旧迎新的传统仪式，更体现了世界人民包容互鉴的友谊。正如中国驻南非大使所言，“文化包容是‘彩虹之国’的底色，也是人类文明的共通追求”。我们期待，未来全球唐人街能继续以文化为媒，深化合作，推动教育、经贸、科技的多元互动，让“中国故事”与“世界声音”和谐共鸣。
From the "Belt and Road" International Day, Christmas, New Year's Day to the Spring Festival and Lantern Festival, the New Year celebrations in the past two months are not only a traditional ceremony to bid farewell to the old and welcome the new, but also reflect the inclusive and mutually learning friendship among the people of the world. As the Chinese Ambassador to South Africa said, "Cultural inclusion is the background color of the 'Rainbow Country' and the common pursuit of human civilization." We look forward to the future that Chinatowns around the world will continue to use culture as a medium, deepen cooperation, promote the diversified interaction between education, economy and trade, and technology, so that the "Chinese story" and the "world voice" can resonate harmoniously.
